About Warriors Walk
Warriors Walk was started in 2003 during then initial Operation Iraqi Freedom. When a soldier assigned or attached to the 3d Infantry Division died on that initial deployment, a tree was planted in their honor along Warriors Walk. Since that first deployment the 3rd Infantry Division has been deployed to Iraq several times and several units have also deployed to Afghanistan. Over 400 trees now line the walk. If you have never been to this hallowed ground, you should come and walk among the trees, read the names and see the mementos that family and friends have left in remembrance of their loved ones.
Our goal at "Wreaths for Warriors Walk" is to place a wreath on every tree to honor the sacrifice of the soldiers and their families with a solemn ceremony open to the public. The ceremony is at noon, the second Saturday of December every year. You can find more about us on facebook. Just click the icon below.
This year's ceremony was December 10, 2011 at noon on Fort Stewart (see map below). Over 1,000 visitors, 100 family members, and 175 motorcycles showed up.
Mark your calendar for next year, December 8, 2012.
Our goal at Wreaths for Warriors Walk is to place a Christmas wreath at the tree of each and every fallen soldier at the Fort Stewart Warriors Walk at a solemn event. With generous donations, selfless volunteers, and in coordination with Wreaths Across America (WAA), our vision became a reality in December 2007. Based on the overwhelming support and attendance at that event, we decided to make it an annual event. In order to insure contributors that their donations were used as intended, we incorporated in 2008.
We need your support and sponsorship of one or more wreaths to help make this yearly event successful. To find out how to sponsor a wreath or make a donation, please visit our Sponsorship page.
